I click page builder but it does not show up

when the page loads. This does not allow me to edit the page.

I made sure that I had created the page WITH Page Builder.

Some pages it will show up and let me edit, and some not.

Could it be rocket cache? I am clearing the cache for that page with no luck.

Any thoughts?

I deactivated rocket cache and a few other plugins. No luck.

However, I did discover that the Page Builder DOES work on all pages except my Blog page. Which, as mentioned, I did create with Page Builder.

Hmmmm. Thanks for any insights. Dave

Hi Dave,

Have you tried switching themes to see if the problem persists?

If so, this might have something to do with the underlying themefiles and the way wordpress handles the automatically generated content (i.e. the list of blogposts).

If you want to add content to it with the pagebuilder the following might work (not realy sure but it’s worth a try):

  • Go to: “settings > reading” and set your blog to a different page;
  • edit the contents of the blog page with the bb-plugin;
  • put the reading settings back the way they were.

Again not really sure, but then again, it might just be impossible to edit the blog page. (I can open the pagebuilder on my blog page, but it doesn’t let me add content, so i guess it’s just tough luck…)

Hope you’ll find a satisfying solution,

-Bob

Bob - thanks so much for jumping in and trying to assist!

Dave - I’ll need to take a look under the hood to see what may be going on with that install if you’ve already gone through the normal process of deactivating plugins testing with BB and Bob’s suggestions. Would you mind sending me temp admin access via private reply when you get a chance? I’ll take a look over the weekend as we’re pretty slammed today.

Best,
Billy

Hmmm, thanks Bob, I tried that. And actually managed to soehow get it working. I htink.

But now I am having the same issue on a different server and I cannot get the Page Builder to pop up for ANY pages! Sheesh! I can create a page with the Page Builder, but then not go back and edit it. I shall keep trying. I have my host checking things out as well.

On my regular server, all seems to be well

Hey Dave,

That is a real head scratcher! Have you tried the process of disabling plugins and enabling while testing with BB to rule out another plugin causing the issue by chance? I have a feeling there could be a conflict with another plugin in this situation. Let me know how that goes and we’ll go from there!

Best,
Billy

I have tried that with the ones that I thought may have been the culprit. But not all of them yet.

I will do so and report back as soon as possible.

I am thinking either file permissions issue or possibly a firewall issue???

Quite possibly, Dave. Let me know what you find out with the plugins and we’ll go from there!

I disabled all plugins except BB. No go. I tried a different theme. No go. After I root around and try various things out of desperation, it will appear. BUT, when I try to edit that page again, or edit a different page, no go.

This issues is only on the test server, which happens to be a state of the art WordPress with NGINX, mariaDB and I think Cloud Linux. I am working with the host also and he is engaged with this problem also.

The no hover on icon happens on all my sites using BB, so I really think that bug was introduced in a recent update to BB. As I know for a fact it was working previously. Hopefully that can head you in the right direction on that one

Hey Dave,

I checked this out and it definitely appears to be a caching issue. Can we get a temporary FTP login to do some testing on the server?

Thanks,
Justin

If I am not mistaken, the host uses Varnish cache at or near the server level with NGINX. I have asked him to take a look at that vis a vis this issue.

It is precisely this type of issues why I HATE caches.

FYI on my own site I use Rocket Cache and it seems to work without incident.

But I can take or leave ANY caching plugins.

I just got word that the host will be moving my test VPS to a new VPS tonight. So, for now, I guess hold off.

He has not put these VPS’s on the market yet as he is doing some final testing bhimself. I have been happy to help him beta test

So, let’s both hold off until I post here again. Thanks much. I have a meeting with a potential client tomorrow and I am hoping to be able to use BB to help him out! Yes! My first actual BB client

Hey Dave,

Sounds good. Let me know how it goes. I would be happy to help test as well.

Good luck with the client! I hope you get to use BB for them!

Justin

Thanks! I will be in touch here when I know more. This guy is a night worker like me  Right now, I must nap to get ready for the night

Update: “Let them know there is zero cache, no varnish on the VPS running, no ngx pagespeed - nothing that would block this script from running properly.”

Above from my host. Funny, it works like a charm on a shared account I have on one of his servers, and that has LiteSpeed and Varnish.

At any rate, this is not mission critical to me as it works on all sites I am using on my current production server.

Dave

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the follow up. If you end up getting FTP access I would be happy to test this and see if we can figure out what’s going on.

Justin

OK, it looks like this issue was caused by Google pagespeed.

Hang on, we may have spoken too soon. I’ll get back when I know more

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the follow up on this. We literally just installed Google’s mod_pagespeed module on the Beaver Builder server this evening and all seems to be working well. Let me know what you find.

Thanks,
Justin
