New version - 1.5.7 changed page designs

Today I updated to the latest version of the BB plugin - 1.5.7, which changed my page designs on both local and server-side sites.

For trouble shooting, on the local site I rolled back the BB plugin to V1.5.5 (1.5.6 was fine) and all was well again.

Here are screen captures on the local site - BB V 1.5.5:

Hello John,

Sorry to hear about this issue. Have you tried clearing the BB cache? If you have any caching plugin installed try clearing its cache as well and see if that helps.

Ben

Hi John and Ben,

I can confirm this behavior on a test site. No other plugins but BB Pro 1.5.7 and any of the supplied WP themes, BB theme and DWB. Cache cleared as well.

Images are not being scaled and depending where they are on the page, are overflowing the container.

For example, I added the Design Portfolio BB template to a new page and the MemTrax image flows right to the right edge of the page. Also, set in a couple widgets to the Primary sidebar and selected the Sidebar page template (BB Child Theme), and they are not being displayed, even on a page without a large image and a WP page with no BB.

Downgrading to 1.5.4 (the latest I had) puts things back to the way they should be.

Note: this may be an item for the BB Theme section, but the Sidebar is not appearing on any page where it has been selected as the page template (1.5.4).

Cheers!
Lyle

Update: disregard the sidebar matter in the previous post; ‘finger trouble’! LOL

Hello Lyle and John,

Would it be possible for you both to grant us admin access to the live sites so we may check further?

Ben

Hi,
I also got trouble after the update with a clean WP installation which is under construction with only one Page. (WP latest version and BB latest version. All images in Boxes are not shown correctly as it was before. Looks like they are all displayed in full size.

Hi Ben,

Mine is local test site.

My experience i0s the same as Lyle posted above. Thanks for the good explanation.

I have cleared the BB cache to no avail, and there are no other caching plugins installed.

As a test, I went back to my local website version which I downgraded to V1.5.5 and upgraded back up to 1.5.7 and it blew up the page layouts again…the same issue occurs. Not,e the plugin works fine up to 1.5.6. For reference, the theme the I am using is a Genesis theme, but I don’t believe that has any bearing.

Ben, per request, you may look at the live site I have in development. I will take it off
maintenance mode and send access details via email.

Thanks.

I just checked Safari and Chrome and the site display looks fine. It appears to be Firefox that is causing the problem.

Gotcha! We’re checking further on this, John.

Ben

Hi everyone. Sorry about this issue. It appears one fix for a smaller issue created a bigger issue in FireFox. I’ll get a fix for this out in the next update. For now, you can add this CSS to your sites as a patch…

.fl-photo-content { display: block !important; }

Stay tuned!

Justin

Hey again! I just patched 1.5.7 with a fix for this. If you re-download it the bug should be gone. Let me know if it’s not.

Justin

Justin, thanks so much for jumping on the issue and finding a solution.

Here’s a quote I came across once that has relevance:
“If you think math is hard, wait until you start coding”

Thanks, John. That is so true!

Justin

Hi Justin, Ben,

the issue still exists with Internet Explorer (here IE11)

WP-Version 4.2.2
BB Version patched 1.5.7

having a textbox (text and image) and the image is placed on the right side the image will be displayed at full size. Changing the image placement to the left side it will be resized properly.

you can see the problem using IE here for a while:

Would be great to have a new patch or workaround for it.

regards Thomas

Hey Thomas,

Sorry to hear that. Visited the site using my IE8 here on Windows 7 but it seems fine? What IE version are you using and on what platform?

Ben

Hi Ben,

please look at the boat “Bayliner-Element-XL…” thats the one with the issue.
Here the image is not resized as it should be. like the others on this page
The only difference to the other Images on this page is the orientation, (text=left, image=right) Design Element is a TEXTBOX with an image.
If I change it to “image lef and text right” all is oK, changing it back the wrong size (full) appears back again.

I have several Platforms here checked:
XP with IE8 = faulty
XP with Firefox = faulty
XP with Chrome = OK

WIN7 with IE11 = faulty
WIN7 with Chrome = OK
WIN8.1 with IE11 = faulty

Tablet with Andoid = OK
Tablet Ipad Air with Safari = OK

cache and browser history was cleaned, all systems are up to date with updates

Thomas

Hey Thomas,

I’d just like to let you know that we’re already finding a fix for this.
