Post Carousel - Image problem

Post Carousel image does not show full image, it somehow crops and only shows the middle part of the image, Could you please help to resolve this?

Example: http://www.venerableresource.com/post-1371/

Hey Aqil,

Thanks for posting! I did check the page you posted above but it was blank. I’m just going to assume you’re using a very wide/tall image. I wouldn’t really recommend either as a featured image for our Post Carousel. The reason we crop it is to maintain the images’ aspect ratio. If we don’t, we’ll need to make the image fit in that small box(wrapper) and it would look contracted/compressed or we’ll have to make the box adjust according to the image which would make it look untidy(not uniform).

Hope this makes sense.

Hello,

Regardless of the Image size it crops, even if I put a 120x120 image size it crops.

If I put a standard Image size say 150*150 for all the images than that should not be a problem?

Hey Aqil,

I checked the page now and I can see the carousel. Your featured images are kinda tall(portrait). We’re actually using an aspect ratio of somewhere close to 5:3.5(landscape) and that’s the reason why it’s cropped. If you use an image with the aspect ratio above, it shouldn’t be a problem. A 4:3 image would still work with a little off the top and bottom cropped.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

Is it possible to change the size from 4:3 to 3:5, I wanted a bigger height than the width as the display are the books.

Hey Aqil,

Unfortunately, there isn’t. I tried playing around with it via CSS but the way it’s implemented makes it hard/impossible. You could always head over to our User Voice Forums and add a feature request for that though.

Ben

Hello Ben,

How did you all come to a conclusion to crop at the aspect ration of 5:3.5(landscape)? does it really make sense to show cropped images? :frowning:

I have seen other modules where there is an option to crop or keep it full size, not sure how did you all miss this option over here.

Hey Aqil,

We base our modules on commonly used practices, e.g., for a featured image, the most commonly used orientation is landscape. I did a quick search for this and got the thread below from WP.org.

Hey Ben,

The crop control is already there in the post slider, can’t it be replicated here? it would be great to have this feature, looking forward for this control.

Hey Ben,

Also the the feature image size in the post carousel is not working, there are 3 options, whatever i select nothing happens, any say on that?

Hey Aqil,

You could head over to our User Voice Forums to add a feature request. The guys love to go there when they’re looking for something new to implement.

I’ll go ahead and submit a bug report regarding the featured image size on the Post Carousel. Thanks for the heads up!

Ben

Hello Ben,

Thanks, what I think is that this is not a new feature but something that was missed while building this module :), but I have raised my voice in the Forum

Do we have any timeline to fix this bug?

Also, I was using the Post Slider Module, in this module when I select the image as background, it looks cool on the website, but when I view it on mobile it does not have the same look, the text part separates from the image and comes down, how can I fix this?

Please look at below website on desktop and mobile.

Hey Aqil,

Sorry to say but we’ve no concrete timeline as to when they can fix it.

That is how the Post Slider works on mobile so there’s really nothing to fix. You can either add additional styling via custom CSS or create another row just for mobile only.

Hope this helps!

Ben
