Problems with adding icons to tab module headings

Hey guys,

I’ve copied an icon’s dashicons code and pasted it in the tab headings so I can have an icon next to it. I’ve noticed that:

  1. the dashicons only show on the tab headings if I'm logged into my website, they don't show otherwise
  2. if I add an icon module with a dashicon on the page and save it, then my dashicons on my tab headings will show when not logged in
  3. this is also true for the foundation icons
  4. font awesome icons seems to work as expected if added to the tab headings

I believe this is also true if I add a dashicon or foundation icon to navigation menu item. Are you guys able to reproduce this?

Thanks,
Helms

Hey Helms,

Something weird is definitely going on there, I got the same results. We’ll need to look into this further, but thanks for bringing to our attention! We’re a bit short staffed this week so I will issue a bug report and we’ll most likely take a look next week. Thanks again!

Best,
Billy

Thanks Billy. Definitely no rush on my part since I can use the font awesome icons for now.

Hey Helms,

Quick update here. So, icon sets are only loaded if you’re using a module that has an icon field. In this case, the Tabs module does not have an icon field. Font Awesome is always loaded in our theme, so that’s why those work in your the module. Dashicons are loaded by WP when you’re logged in. In order to use the other icon sets, you’ll need to manually load the stylesheets. Sorry if that wasn’t quite the resolution you were looking for, but we’re actively working on some cool icon set functionality.

Best,
Billy

Ok, that makes sense. I’ll use the font awesome icon for these circumstances. Can’t wait to check out the cool icon functionality.

Thanks,
Helms
