Published changes not saving

Hey guys,

I’ve run into an issue recently.

On several pages, any changes I make through page builder aren’t sticking once I click “publish”. Basically the page looks like it did before I made any changes.

However, if I click on the Page Builder edit link again, the changes I wanted to make are still there, in draft form.

So essentially it looks like the changes I want to make are being saved as a draft, but not being published.

I’ve disabled all plugins and even uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin (I even tested with the Automator theme).

Any ideas?

Hey Desmond,

Thanks for letting us know. I’m going to be doing some work on the builder this evening and will look into the issue. A few questions…

  1. Is this happening on every page or only certain pages?
  2. Is this happening on all sites you are using the builder on?

Do you mind setting me up with a temporary user to test this out? If so, shoot me an email with the login info. I’ve tested on our site and everything appears to be working fine, so logging into yours would be a big help.

Justin

Hi Justin,

I have about 4 different local installs I use to test various plugins, themes, etc.

It is happening on one specific install on two specific pages. Content really just consists of dummy text. All plugins are turned off, and it was tested with my own custom theme, Automator, and twenty fourteen.

This particular install is the one I use to test anything under the sun, my “wild” install. However, with all plugins deactivated and no custom javascript or templates being used, I don’t know what the issue would be other than a different plugin I tested left behind something that is interfering with the Page Builder. Still odd that it only happens on specific pages that only have text for content.

The only other thing I can think of is I was trying to “break” the new export function by trying to edit and save in the back-end, seeing if it would appear in the front-end, editing in the front-end and seeing if deactivation of the plugin left behind the exported data – essentially every save and edit combination I could think of. All in the spirit of predicting client behaviour :).

I’d definitely provide access if this wasn’t a local install.

Just let me know if you’d like me to test anything and I’ll jump on it. Again, it looks like changes are being saved as drafts and not being pushed over to live (on two specific pages).

Just a quick followup that another possibility is that I used the custom module I was playing around with on this install. I wonder if that somehow corrupted these two specific pages?

Thanks for the follow up! I believe the custom module is causing the issue as I ran into a similar issue that is now fixed. An update with that fix will be out shortly.

The update also includes enhancements that allow developers to create custom modules as plugins so they won’t be overridden when updating the builder. I’ll reply with a link to the plugin example once the update is out.

Hi Desmond,

That issue should be fixed now. Additionally, you can download the new example module plugin from this link. The main thing to look out for with that is making sure you set the “dir” and “url” paths within the constructor function of your modules.

Let me know if you run into any issues!

Justin

Hey Justin,

So far so good! The issue is gone on my end and I’ve been able to make a functioning module / plugin.

Thanks again.

Glad it worked out! Let me know if there is anything else.

Hi all,

Ive just installed Beaver builder Theme, Child Theme and Plugin on a fresh site.

Its the only plugin enabled… However I have the exact same issue as Desmond in his first quote.

Would love to hear your thoughts… As I cant use the plugin at this time.

Happy to provide Login credentials privately.

Cheers,

Colin.
