Templates not exporting successfully

I’ve tried exporting templates from one site to another. However the imported templates are completely blank.

A couple of templates have a menu but nothing else - the rest are blank.

I’ve checked the templates on the original site and I can see the content.

I’ve tried using wordpress standard exporter as well as the BB Templates exporter.

Why is this happening / what am I doing wrong?

Hey Dennis,

The native WP importer has issues handling serialized data. Can you try using the patched importer below and see if it works for you? We’re actually fixing this issue for the next major patch.

Thank you. Been spending so much time trying to work this out today.

It work for most of it, but it didn’t import post module settings.

Hi Dennis,

Is it possible for you to provide temp admin access, please? So we can take a closer look.

Thanks,
Danny

Hi Dennis,

Is this what the page should look like?

Cloudup

As far as I can tell, all the settings remain except for the Post Type option. Which I needed to change to Pages and then back to Posts.

Is this correct? If so, I can bring this to the attention of our developers.

Thanks,
Danny

Yes, that’s the layout. Yes it’s the Post Type option that isn’t saved. But also the image size was changed on the template exports to thumbnail.

On a side note, I’m not sure how the image sizes work in the post module, but I find that sometimes it makes the image quality look low/pixellated even if you choose large images. I’ve found that I have to select different image sizes until one looks good quality. Or I have to save page builder layout, then go back in and change the image size until it shows clearly or the clearest.

Hello, we’re encountering something similar so I wanted to get some further insight on this serialized data thing. We’re able to export/import “layouts” but they don’t really carry over module styling, especially with slideshow slides. It’s basically a raw version of the original. Would your update be working to resolve this?

On the same front, do we need to save each and every module uniquely in the layout for it to be included in the export? Because it does seem to generally include those, just without their styling. This is the case in either export though, it doesn’t currently include the module styling.

Here are some screenshots of the difference:

Thanks for your hard work over there, we sincerely appreciate it!

Hi Dennis and Wilson.

I am going to speak to our developers and see what they suggest. As soon as I have any information, I will reply here.

Thanks,
Danny

Hey Wilson,

Have you tried clearing the Beaver Builder cache? It looks like the data is importing correctly as everything is there structurally, but all of the styling that gets cached is missing.

You can find that in the admin under Settings > Page Builder > Cache.

Give that a shot and let me know how it goes.

Justin

Yeah, it stayed the same. What I’ll do is export the page as a template xml and see what’s in it. I’ll send you a copy here shortly. Thanks a lot for your time.

Sorry guys! Looks like this is a false alarm. My developer told me he did most of the styling in BB. But after you telling me that styling should be there, I discovered he actually DID NOT do most of his styling in BB. So… I found the missing styles. Thanks again.

Hey Wilson,

Glad to hear you figured it out, and thanks for taking the time to inform us that was the case! Enjoy BB!
