Tonight I ran into the same issue that other forum goers have experienced as well:

I’m trying to use Shortcodes Ultimate within the Text Editor popup for Beaver Builder. The button is there – for a menu that’s quite important due to the number of options – but clicking it does nothing.

There is nothing of interest in the js console. This issue replicates with the free version of SU and the free version of BB in a clean dev environment. (Though I own a premium BB license and it was originally observed in the pro.)

Rich Brooks stepped in tonight and assisted with some in depth troubleshooting and what we found was that in the WP backend, SU is able to load correctly. However, when front end loaded while running BB, several of the scripts are never called or loaded.

There is code changes from the creator of the editor as well as what appears to be a highly important code block provided by the author of Shortcodes Ultimate.

I need this plugin combination to work and am hoping that the above enables you to make more rapid progress on it.

Hey John,

Yes, you can use shortcodes via the HTML module. I know we have a lot of users on Shortcodes Ultimate as well if that helps. The list you referenced are our own built in shortcodes for pulling BB content which is a bit different.

I’m a little confused myself.

You say here http://forum.wpbeaverbuilder.com/knowledge-base/shortcodes/ that we can only use a few standard shortcodes, but I was under the impression that a plugin like Shortcodes Ultimate would be compatible?

Do you have a complete list of all workable shortcodes we can cheat from?

This will be a major boon for BB as so far this is its only short-coming that I can see so far.

Just loving the new features and feel of BB.

I’ve been using VC for years with my framework and we all know what happened to them recently, but you can nest cols within rows which does give more flexibility from a design point of view.

Can’t wait till that is possible in BB.
I’ve tried using a few shortcode plugins to run cols and that worked with Intense which was also part of my framework.
I’ve tried Shortcodes Ultimate and it doesn’t want to play nice with BB which is a shame, but I’m sure someone will come up with a way round it.

The support and community here is second to none and everyone is really friendly and prepared to go the extra mile – as was mentioned on the FB group earlier today.

BB is definitely a game changer – an industry changer in fact!

Hey Rafael,

Third party extensions aren’t loaded into the BB interface in say the text editor module and that is by design as third party extensions introduce too many unknowns/conflicts. Check out this thread though. What you can do is create your shortcode in a standard WP page via the editor, then take that shortcode and insert into an HTML module within a BB layout. But when I click to insert a shortcode nothing happens, which apparently is not compatible with BB.

I wonder what shortcode plugin is 100% compatible with BeaverBuilder.

Thanks for your answer – I see what you are saying / the issue with my last suggestion. I can put the shortcodes in a single HTML or text module but there is a lot of content in between and this is a backward step (and the TinyMCE content area in the text module is not that big in the modal).

As a developer what I really need is a module is like a ‘psuedo-row’…that can be placed outside of a row that does not render in the builder….that would be very cool and be the ultimate solution. That would give BB another serious USP over the competition too! Is that a feasible solution in the longer term?

If you want to make BB ultimately flexible, it really needs to be able to be used with third party shortcodes – as you know, most membership systems, learning management systems, shortcode ‘packs’ or other complex plugin functionality relies heavily on them for showing, hiding and formatting content..

A proprietary show/hide system would work for some people but would not be anywhere near as flexible as cracking the issue of embedding third party shortcodes as obviously, it is never a simple case of logged in or not logged in and third party shortcodes often have additional parameters etc…

I only say this to help influence your roadmap constructively! 😉

It is a shame as I thought BB would allow all of this and I have just moved away from Visual Composer for the same reason…(the other reason was the horrendous amount of shortcodes it puts in the content).

That aside, I am still pleased I have made the move to BB and I have not given up trying to develop a workaround solution (eg a plugin that allows me to switch off the shortcodes page by page). This morning, I developed my first attempt and it almost works…I just need to find the time to work at it and I need to get my head around your classes/CSS a bit better as the output is not staying quite where I put it!

One other question I have: Is there a hook/filter that you would recommend that I can use to target some code at admin users in BB page edit mode?

Hi

I am new to Beaver Builder but have spent the last 2 days familiarising myself with it and rebuilding 40 pages from my site / LMS (moving from Runway Framework + Visual Composer). I have used the BB theme and Beaver Builder to re-create some really complex pages and I love it; complex full width layouts are very simple and quick to produce…

Unfortunately, however, I am having problems using BB on pages which have additional HTML functionality and shortcodes embedded into them (ironically, they are actually quite simple layouts but have more interaction)…

I am using shortcodes to hide sections of premium content in the page (subscribers only) and some simple HTML snippets for addition of ‘goodies’ (such as a bootstrap modal which works really well).

I have experienced a few problems though – as soon as I embed shortcodes and HTML snippets into the page, it seems that all of the rows get ‘messed up’ and BB builder becomes unusable as I cannot select some rows or modules – here are links to a couple of screenshots:

This seems to happen as soon as I put an HTML module on the page. When I remove the HTML module the rows start behaving normally again. This seems to be a problem only with some HTML snippets / shortcodes (some shortcodes/HTML does not cause a problem).

I have two questions:

1) How can I use a two part shortcode eg [loggedin]xxxx[/notloggedin] that hides premium content? As BB runs the shortcode, BB hides the content I am trying to edit (and I have to be logged in to edit it).

I could ‘comment out’ the shortcode and add it back in but some pages have numerous shortcodes to hide various panels and this is quite a time-consuming approach.

Is there any way I can make it so that the shortcode does not actually render (other than commenting each one out)?

2) I also wanted to use a two part shortcode from a third party plugin such as Shortcodes Ultimate (for example, a nice box layout or a tabbed section or accordion [that is not one of your modules]). They work if I put the whole shortcode in a text/html module but I wanted to have the start/end shortcodes in separate HTML modules then use BB to edit the content inside it…however, this does not seem to work as the row / module overlays / selections see to go awry and on some occasions the closing shortcode seemed to disappear completely. Is there any way I can fix this?

What would really help is if there were a simple tick box option on the HTML module to stop it rendering / running when in edit mode…or a ‘developer mode’ option somewhere at the module or page level that could be toggled on or off…

Does this make sense? If so, do you have any suggestions that would make my development of these pages using BB a bit easier?

Hi Colin,

I was just wondering if you could share what you did on my site to make the shortcodes reappear as after updating Ultimate Member and Beaver Builder today the login forms are no longer showing again. I have cleared the BB cache already. It appears to happen when there is an update. Thanks so much!

Hi Nicola,

I just tested the Ultimate Member shortcodes in Beaver Builder’s Text and HTML modules, on both, Genesis 2.2.0 and Genesis 2.2.2 without any problems. That essentially eliminates those three.

Can you try the following:

1. Purge or temporarily disable any caching addons / plugins i.e. W3 Cache or Super Cache
2. Clear the Beaver Builder cache – Dashboard – Settings – Page Builder – Cache – Clear Cache
3. Disable any CSS Minify plugins if you have any.
4. Disable all your plugins, then enable them one at a time.

If none of those work, please provide your url and a temporary admin login using the “Set as private reply” option below.

Thanks so much Colin! It is the Ultimate Member plugin and it is the shortcodes for the login and registration pages. I have also posted in their forum. I am using the most up to date versions of both plugins and Genesis and Dynamik Gen child theme. I can see the the forms are there when I hover over them as I can see the links pop up but just can’t see the actual forms

Hello All!

I’m one of the developers of Intense and happened to come across this thread while doing some research on the Intense shortcodes button not working properly in BB.

Paul, I wish I could say that we have an army of devs working on Intense to keep it maintained. It’s just two of us doing all of the work. Chad and myself handle all the support, maintenance, and enhancements.

You are correct Paul, the majority of files in Intense are the free icons. There are nearly 5000 icons included in the plugin. We have been exploring other ways to package the icons.

The Intense CSS file is stored in an “intense” folder in the uploads folder. When shortcodes are turned on or off, the CSS is rebuilt. This keeps the size of the CSS file down to only what is necessary. We really do our best to make Intense work as efficiently as possible. We are more than open to suggestions if people have ideas on how we can improve the plugin.

We are exploring the issues with the shortcode/snippet buttons not working in BB. It seems it is similar to the issue mentioned with Shortcodes Ultimate.

If anyone has questions, suggestions, or needs help with Intense, we are more than happy to answer.

However the work around I used was to have another tab open with a draft post / page (not in Beaver) and create my shortcodes in there and then paste them into the builder. This worked for me. It’s not ideal, but I like this plugin (Ultimate) and I don’t want to use Intense. Whenever I have used Intense shortcodes I get the feeling there is so much to go wrong – something like 10,000 files. Seems it must add a lot of bloat to a site.

That’s exactly what I did and it seamed to work okay.

With Shortcode Ultimate you insert shortcodes with their shortcode builder. The builder wont even come up. I guess I could build it using the WordPress Editor on a different page, copy the shortcode and then paste it in. Sounds like more work than is necessary. But it is what it is.

I’ve been researching this too and was going to go with Intense because it seems to have everything I need. I’ve been using some of the power themes on Envato and have decided to stop using them because they eventually become unsupported. I’m wanting lots of cool shortcodes, with animations, etc, like the themes I’ve been using, and Intense seemed to fit the bill.

What exactly was the issue with Intense. Is it compatible with Beaver? Does it slow it down noticeably?

You could try Shortcodes Ultimate, it’s one of the most popular and it’s free.

I deleted the staging site with the original conflict (@ several weeks ago). I just re-copied the production site to staging. Added Beaver Builder to the staging site home page – and no conflict on the course/lesson custom post types with Shortcodes Ultimate!

I already have course/lesson custom post types using Shortcodes Ultimate. On a staging copy, when I activated Beaver Builder, the front end of course/lessons with Shortcodes Ultimate broke.

There is a conflict between BB and Shortcodes Ultimate that I’d like to remedy with Plugin Organizer. At least in part due to Font Awesome.

I’m using BB on the home page, but Shortcodes Ultmate on custom post types (courses, lessons) from an LMS.

Question: does BB CSS and other code load on post types that I do not enable in BB settings?

This plugin allows you to do the following: 1. Change the order that your plugins are loaded. 2. Selectively disable plugins by any post type or wordpress managed URL. 3. Adds grouping to the plugin admin age.

Hey Steve,

Robby’s correct that creating custom modules would be the way to go, although, creating widgets isn’t a bad idea either. It’s really a matter of which you prefer. Widgets can be used at Appearance > Widgets, so that may be a reason to go that route.

We’ll keep the Visual Composer shortcodes idea in mind. As always, you can submit ideas to our feedback forum for other users to vote on. That ultimately helps us decide what to focus on next.
